THE REVIEW

Jeremy and Brian had been sharing the same house since they moved away from home. Jeremy had been working very hard at his job which he endured for one reason, and one reason only, to put his brother through university. This evening he was late because his boss refused to hire competent help which meant he had to work overtime, as usual, when all he wanted to do was to be with Brian. When he showed up at their regular hangout, a neighborhood bar, Brian was impatiently waiting for him and they decided to go out to dinner to celebrate the end of Brian’s midterms.

As they were leaving the bar they were accosted by Jeremy’s old nemesis Alec, a former high school football star who had always envied Jeremy’s athletic ability. Alec became verbally abusive about their relationship and accused them of being “the faggot brothers” which really upset Jeremy and he almost got into a fight with Alec before Brian persuaded him to leave. During dinner Jeremy was still visibly angry, much more than seemed warranted by the incident, but despite Brian’s probing he wouldn’t confide in him.

After their evening out Jeremy started avoiding Brian who was determined to find out the reason why and when he eventually pinned him down Jeremy confessed that he couldn’t bear to be in the same house with Brian because he wanted him as his lover. It appeared that they had been
harboring the same desire for each other and they very quickly moved from wishing to action.

This story was quite nicely done and I really liked it. The characters were surprisingly well developed for this short format. Both protagonists were three dimensional and very appealing and their most important personality trait was the way they were protective of each other. I think this book will appeal to readers who are not turned off by the subject matter.

This book is about twincest and may be offensive to some readers

  • Ever since I read J.M. Snyder’s Between Brothers I’ve had a soft spot for those twincest stories. That noe sounds great, but the one thing that makes me wary is, again, the lenght. 15 pages? *sigh* I read Sage Whistler’s TORN which was around 60 pages maybe and still found it way too short to be believable (of course I also thought the writing was very annoying so it didn’t help). I might put this one on my wish list anyway. Hope springs eternal.

    The author really did a good job of packing a lot of story in these 15 pages.

    Before I tackle a really LONG novel – I have several of those on my list that I finish within the next week – I read these little gems.

  • I understand the appeal of little stories like that – when you have a TBR pile that is miles high, you can read 4 of those (or more) in the time it would take to read one single long story. I’d go for scratching the 4 titles too – would make me feel like I’m finally moving forward with that darn pile!!! :-DDD Plus, there can’t be much intensity in 20 pages outside teh sex area, so they’re a respite between longer, darker, much emotionally complex stories. 😉

  • Wave, I do take a chance with them! Except for one good, I have to deal with 5 I think were crap and not worth bothering. That’s why I’ve become wary.

  • Lol. The subject sounds fun :). But darn… 9 pages? *wince* *blows out sigh* Ok, if you say it's really good, I'll give it a try, and this dinner & movie brothers story too – can't get it out of my mind. Don't knw when, though… but don't worry, I'll tell you when I do 😀
