THE BLURB
Male model Darien is offered a dream gig: a photo spread with famous rapper Orion. When he arrives at the studio and discovers Orion has mistaken him for a woman, Darien worries how the rapper will react.
To Darien’s surprise, and pleasure, Orion is interested in more than taking pictures.
THE REVIEW
I bought this book on a whim because I liked the song on which the book is based. This is part of Phaze’s Rocks line and I didn’t expect a whole lot, since this is a pretty short story and the blurb was sketchy.
When Darien got the call about a modeling assignment he was surprised because it was an ad for a rapper by the name of Orion who he didn’t think was into men. He showed up on schedule for the shoot and found out that there was indeed a mistake – Orion had seen his picture and had mistaken him for a woman because of his feminine looks. Even when they saw each other briefly before Darien had to get changed for the shoot, Orion still thinks that Darien is a woman, which I found strange even if the model was made up to look like one.
This is where the story gets even more convoluted. When Orion or Ryan, which is his real name, discovers that Darien is the wrong sex, instead of sending him home he decides that he still wants him, although he is neither gay nor bisexual. There is no explanation for his sudden switch – just that he is so turned on by Darien that nothing else would satisfy him but to take Darien right there in the dressing room. The sex was steamy and gritty and it was as if Ryan had been doing it with men all his life because he never hesitated to demand what he wanted from Darien who was lapping it up figuratively and literally. 😀
The plot was unrealistic, but I did like both Darien’s and Ryan’s characters and the writing, that’s why I rated the story 3 stars. The book was fun and the pacing was fast plus the cover was hot, which was a great combination. If you’re looking for a quick erotic read you might want to try Dude Looks Like A Lady, however this is one gay for you story that didn’t quite do it for me.
Dude Looks like A Lady will be of interest to readers of the genre.

I do like GFY but I prefer it when it’s got a smidgen of reality in it, where the new guy is unsure of what he’s doing, not when they take to it like a duck to water with tons of experience. 🙂 While it seems like an “okay” read, I doubt I’ll seek it out but I do like the cover.

The cover is probably what clinched the deal for for to buy this book, because it’s really hot even if there are no faces. 🙂 The story was fine but you have to suspend a whole lot of disbelief that this rapper would all of a sudden be hot for another guy. However, as I said in the review, if you’re looking for a hot erotic read this would be something to consider.
I can’t believe that putting hot guys on the cover would cause you to buy the book.
Hi Randy
I’m ashamed of myself but sometimes I get caught. I wrote a post a few months ago about cover art and how it affects readers’ buying habits, and I guess this proves my point. 😀

The other reason I bought this book is I saw a pretty good review on another site but the book didn’t work for me, for the reasons stated in the review. This proves another point – in books, movies, food, etc. personal opinions differ a great deal which is why I recommend that readers check out a number of reviews before they put down their hard earned cash.
