THE REVIEW
If you’re looking for a very funny short read you don’t have far to go, as Your Cheatin’ Heart provides a lot of entertainment and will leave you smiling all day long.
Sylvester Starr, or “Sylver” in his alter ego as a cross dresser, is in love with and got married to his boss, multi billionaire Hunter Steele, a year ago in the biggest, gayest wedding in Massachusetts. That’s where all the trouble started because Sylver is a werewolf and wolves mate for life. Hunter, on the other hand, is a feline shifter with the morals of a tomcat. A month ago they came to a parting of the ways because of Hunter’s cheating, and Sylver returned home to earth. Can two different species, genetically coded for opposite behavior patterns ever find happiness together? Not according to Sylver.
However, Hunter is not giving up the fight to get Sylver back, even if it means fighting off a few Crocodoids as well as Sylver. But Sylver may be the bigger challenge. In human form Hunter is definitely bigger and more manly while Sylver at 5ft 8 in. has an almost girlish body, but when they shift Sylver is a huge werewolf, almost 20 times bigger than Hunter who is a little furball. 😀
Hunter gets his big chance to win his husband back by saving Sylver’s Aunt Tashi’s life after she was zapped by one of the crocodoids who were trying to invade earth and take over the planet. He promised to bring Aunt Tashi back to life on one condition: Sylver has to do the one thing he hates, go back to his husband and promise to stay with him forever. Will Sylver compromise his principles on fidelity and return to cheating Hunter, or will Aunt Tashi pay the price? Will our lovers fight like cats and dogs or hump like rabbits after the big reunion, if there’s one?
Hunter and Sylver are such a fun pair that you will spilt your sides laughing at their antics. Their characterizations are on the money as they both display the attributes of their breeds, which is what got them into trouble in the first place. The Mayor of Turnville, where Aunt Tashi lives, will remind you of fun characters in old movies from the 50’s and 60’s and his sons Ivan, Bubba and Khazzaro are chips off the old block. 😀 As for the sex, it’s to die for as Hunter and Sylver set the sheets on fire. I won’t spoil your fun by attempting to describe the man on man action except to say hi-yo, Sylver.
This is the first book by Mimi Riser that I have read and it will definitely not be the last because she is a gifted writer who knows how to entertain her readers with funny repartee and wonderful prose, but she can move from humour to love and sex in a split second. Just in case you were wondering, there is no shifted sex in Your Cheatin’ Heart.
Of course love conquers all until the next adventure of Sylvester and Steele – Thunderball.
I predict you will become a fan of Sylver and Hunter. Definitely recommended.
But really, can any one not start crooning Loretta Lynn when they read that title? Or is it Tammy Wynette? Either way – Arrggghhh. And with a twang no less?

So many singers did Your Cheatin’ Heart from Hank Williams to Ray Charles to a bunch of female singers I’m not sure who sang the song originally. May even be before my time. 🙂

However, this is a really fun read from beginning to end, with some hot sex thrown in – a terrific mix. Mimi Riser did a great job and I hope you get Your Cheatin’ Heart. You will love the characters.

I was telling a friend of mine about this story and told her ‘if Douglas Adams were ever to write a erotic M/M story, it would read like this.’ the story kept me entertained and laughing from beginning to end and I cannot wait for Thunderball.
One of the elements of this story I loved most was the unusual dialogue and the way Mimi brought it about.
